All of my previously ordered items have arrived but I have since ordered more. Any pending items are due to arrive by tomorrow! At this point, I have either run out of new ideas, or, my new ideas were not feasible at this time either due to not being available to buy anywhere, or the cost was much higher than I was willing to pay. But I will keep searching, with the hope that some of the items I would like to add to my tiny nursery or miniature nursery might become available, or available at a price that is too good to pass up.
For now, here are the latest updates!
A vintage McDonald’s plastic bib from 1979! They, and most, if not all, restaurants no longer provide these! Well, this is one less plastic, disposable bib in the landfills! LOL!!
The following item is expected tomorrow! It reminds me of the two lamp shades we had on two of our bedroom table lamps. The plastic lamp shade itself is exact but the skirt applied over it is not the same style or color as the ones we had. The skirts we had also had an extension at the top that covered the crown of the plastic shade.
There were some table lamps that were similar, but not exact replicas of the two we had. And the two lamps we had did not match one another. Close but not exact replicas. But the cost of all of the lamps I found that were close were higher than I wanted to spend. So I just went with the lamp shade for now.
This style of lamp shade was rather difficult to find as there aren’t many out there. I am sure, over the years, the hot light bulbs burned and melted many of them and they had to be discarded. These lamp shades were not very stable and could easily be bumped out of place out of place and when this occurred, if not noticed, the shade often went right up against the bulb! I wouldn’t be surprised if this resulted in some fires for owners of these shades!
However, with today’s LED light bulbs that don’t heat up at all, these lamp shades would now be safe to use. If I do eventually find a lamp like one of the ones we had, and at a price I am willing to pay, I will use a LED light bulb for sure! But, for now, I’ll enjoy displaying this vintage lamp shade!
Addendum! I just located a lamp that I believe is exactly the same as one of the two lamps we had growing up! Of course, this is based on my memory dating back about 35+ years! And the price was about half what the other lamps similar to this one cost, after submitting an offer that the seller accepted! And the other lamps that I have seen were not as close to the lamps we had. All paid for and will hopefully ship soon! It comes with the lamp shade, which makes it an even better deal!
But I only need one lamp shade! I like the other lamp shade more so I will use that one instead of this one. Not sure yet what I’ll do with this extra shade. It might be worth it to sell it on eBay. We’ll see!
The remaining updates involve the miniature nursery!
The Matchbox Beanie Babies have been rearranged. I realized that this miniature, wooden rocking horse had no baby doll in it for the display. I prefer to have a baby doll displayed in every piece of miniature nursery furniture. They just look nicer this way.
This rocking horse was on the very top shelf, which lacked the necessary height to accommodate adding a baby doll to it. So I moved it to the shelf below, which has the space to accommodate this. The other two beanie babies were moved up to the top shelf and fit quite nicely there! A minor adjustment but I am pleased with the results!
By the main entryway, the hen in the nesting box was moved away from the door area and glued to the fence. It crowded the front entryway, so this was a nice solution! It is also more visible here. I raise chickens, so when I saw this piece, I just had to have it!
I bought a variety of miniature eggs to display and placed them nearby inside the basket that was housing some of the miniature clothes pins. It was the perfect basket for these eggs! The clothes pins were added with the others along the clothes line. A welcome mat has also been placed in front of the door. This is another reason the little hen had to be moved. Otherwise, it would have covered most of the welcome mat.
A vintage red, metal watering can was added by the flowers around the mailbox.
Quite a few new miniature vintage toy display boxes have been added to the “toy closet” and to the shelves in some of the rooms on each level!
Here is the “toy closet!” There is still more space left to display more items! I am looking to fill them with smaller items that the remaining shelf space will accommodate.
Here is one level/room in the miniature nursery that now accommodates some of the miniature toy boxes and toys that don’t fit well in the toy closet!
Another room/level with updates!
Another level/room with updates!
Another level with updates! I added this little piano here, more to fill up the space between the changing table and cradle.
That’s all until the last of my items arrive tomorrow! After they arrive and are placed, I will be sure to do a quick blog update! Then I’ll have a better idea of what my tiny and miniature nurseries can accommodate moving forward!
Great update! I remember those lamps! It's crazy to think that they still exist after all of these years! I think the McDonald's bibs are still current. You just have to ask for one. I know that Taylor has used them quite recently and they haven't changed at all. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's blog! Let me know the moment it updates!
