Yesterday I added this vintage Fisher Price radio!
I placed the radio here with the vintage monkey I added the other day:
The lady who sold this to me also sent me this nice hand-written note with some vintage Mardi Gras jewelry (pin and necklace) that was her mother’s! I was totally wowed over this!
Today I added this Fisher Price nursery set with little people baby! I have another baby with another yellow cradle coming still! It was only $5 including shipping so I couldn’t pass it up. It’s worth a lot more than this!
I added these vintage Sesame Street rubber finger puppets today! I had forgotten all about them until I came across them on Pinterest while looking at vintage items to add pins to my vintage board!
I placed them on my little nightstand next to the vintage glass piggy bank I got the other day, and with other vintage items stored and displayed here. My vintage sparkler toy is right behind them. I have another sparkler toy coming soon, which you can see toward the end of this blog.
And this new addition is VERY exciting for me! Vintage Lincoln Logs # 890, with the original container! I had this, and two other, different containers of these growing up! We played with them for years! Hours upon hours of fun! I am not sure exactly what year this came out but I wonder who these Lincoln Logs kids of the 1970’s are and where they are today! LOL!
This did not come with the full set of Lincoln Logs but, for the price, it is still well worth it! Most sets are missing pieces. It’s very common. I was primarily after the container anyway. But I still have just barely enough to make a little house with them! LOL!
I did a bit of reorganizing once again to accommodate my new additions and to accommodate more items that are coming over the next few days!
I moved the roller skates to a better location. They have been moved from here:
To here - So much better!
I had to move my little Amish dolls to a new location. I had to move some rubber duckies to make room for the Amish dolls. The blue rubber ducky in the photo above was placed next to my roller skates. Others were placed elsewhere.
Here’s the new location for the Amish dolls:
Other rubber duckies were placed here:
And here’s another little photo shoot of my tiny nursery!
More items on the way! I keep finding things I want! If I find a great deal, I go for it. There are other items that I would love to get but they’re either too large and would not fit or would take up too much space.
There are also items that are just crazy expensive! Like a vintage Mattel 1970’s unopened plastic can of Slime goes for $300+ and up! Just crazy! I used to love to play with Slime! I loved both the feel and smell of it! I can still remember what it felt and smelled like! Can you? But unless I find one that someone is selling that has no idea what the value is, I won’t be getting any Slime! LOL!
So, these more affordable options are on the way! I got some great deals too!
I had made an offer on a vintage Sesame Street Knickerbocker Grover but the seller wasn’t responding. The offer was made for higher than the starting bid a couple of days before the auction was supposed to end. There was no option to buy it now and I didn’t want to wait until the auction was over. There were no bids and no watchers so I figured maybe if I made an offer slightly higher than the starting bid, with no watchers, the seller might accept it.
There were three hours to go with the auction and the seller still hadn’t gotten back to me on my offer. I thought the seller was holding out until the end of the auction in case anyone else aside from me came along. Since my rationale for offering higher was to try to get it sooner, I decided to enter a bid, which cancelled out my offer, and I won the bid. I was the only bidder. I won it for $1.01 less than what I offered. So, I paid for it.
Four days went by and it still had not shipped. So I messaged the seller for an update on shipping:
And I had turned down three other offers between waiting for the seller to accept my offer and the end of the auction! In fact, one of the offers was only $1 more than my winning bid and another offer was $4 less! So I was not happy! I received my refund thankfully but I still reported this seller to eBay!
I played by the rules and turned down offers instead of backing out on my offer as well as the bid! I could have easily messaged the seller and asked to have my offer or bid cancelled. I have had buyers do this to me when selling items myself! And I didn’t like it so I won’t do this to a seller. I stood by my offer and bid, and even paid within minutes of winning the auction! I bet the seller thought there was going to be more bidding activity and when that didn’t happen, s/he backed out of the deal!
If sellers did this all of the time to buyers, can you imagine what this would do to eBay? People would just stop shopping if this kind of crap became the norm. eBay would go out of business! This is why I reported the seller. I also saved this seller to my favorites because I’m curious if the Grover will get re-listed in an attempt to get more money for him! So far it has been re-listed but time will tell!
Anyway, it took a lot of searching and I actually received a few offers along the way again. I ended up getting this Grover for $4 less. Not exactly what I wanted as this one is early 1980’s instead of late 1970’s. But I could not find any others from late 1970’s at a price I was willing to pay. The other offers for the older one were still way too high too. But thix was the best deal so I decided to go for it!
Here he is! Shipped and on the way!
I decided to get a vintage Kermit too! I was not going to buy one but a seller sent me an offer I just could not refuse! I had one as a kid. My sister had Grover. I had wished I had Grover instead of Kermit. I liked Kermit but loved Grover! So now I’ll have both!
Another set of Lincoln Logs; # 892, a set we had as kids, is on the way!
And this # 891 set we had as kids is on the way! The seller just accepted my offer a few minutes ago! Yay!
This is not vintage, but it would be be disgusting if it was! LOL! But this brings back some fun memories in my very youthful years!
I had this as a baby, in the mid 1960’s, and two of my three younger used it too, which is why I remember it. If it was only me that used it, I would have been way too young to remember it! I got a great deal on this, which includes the original box: $6 plus $11.97 shipping!
My cheap ($5 including shipping) vintage Fisher Price Little People baby and cradle!
And I had somewhat forgotten all about Squirmle! I bought three at $1.35 each plus a total of $5 shipping! I decided on pink, purple and blue! I know I shouldn’t open the packages but I plan to open at least one of them. I can’t decide which one yet but I can’t resist! LOL!
I had one of these Christmas sparkler toys once as a young child, and this one still works smoothly according to the seller! I bought a different, standard sparkler toy a few weeks ago and that one works smoothly too! A nice addition to my collection!
I had various kaleidoscopes throughout my younger childhood years but these next two are most familiar to me! I bought two of the second one. One to show my 3 1/2 year old grandson on his next visit here. I know for sure he is going to love playing with it! So, for the second kaleidoscope below, one will be added to my collection, and the other will be played with by my grandson! I’ll teach him to handle it gently and once I do, I am confident he won’t break it.
And what collection doesn’t have Silly Putty! LOL! Have to have the original Silly Putty! This is unopened so the condition of the putty is not known. I really want to open it to see if the putty is still good. I have seen some Silly Putty out there that is supposedly still good! If this is actually true, mine might still be too! If I open it and the putty is still good, it will still be valuable with the accompanying packaging. But, if it’s bad after opening it, it’s essentially worthless. I am buying vintage stuff to collect; however, I am also buying it to enjoy. So, I think I will likely open it when it arrives!
That’s it for now! I am having a ball with my long overdue collection! I have been wanting to do this for years but really had no place to store it all. Discovering this area in my home that I now use for my tiny nursery three months ago, has been so awesome! I’m having a ball with it and doing what I have wanted to do for a long time now! Playing catch up! 👍😁
Nice radio! I remember a friend of mine in Abbot Bridge had one too! So cool and I absolutely love it! The fuzzy worm just brought back a memory involving Gabrielle! Do you remember the Christmas you spent over at our house in Salem on the way back from spending the earlier part of your day with your in-laws?! That was the year you gifted me the dipping bird and one of those wiggly worms with the googly eyes on the string! Well, when Gabby saw us playing with it, she suddenly freaked out! She actually thought it was real and began crying hysterically! ~LOL! Do you remember that? I remember taking the silly putty and pushing it on to a black and white newspaper. I always loved The Family Circus in the comics section. I distinctly recall doing that. I only remember Laura's busy box unfortunately and that was early 80's. I don't recognize that one at all, so I must not have inherited it. Great update! Anymore items coming?
