After a lengthy search I finally located the perfect storage solution for my doll collection! I had most of my collection on the bottom shelf of my curio, however, it would only accommodate four out of the five of them, and I didn’t want to utilize a second shelf. I also wanted a storage solution that would accommodate their clothing and accessories.

My new storage solution!

The doors didn’t stay closed very well, which was one of the complaints in the reviews when I researched before purchasing. So I was aware of this issue beforehand and it wasn’t a huge deciding factor for me. The price was right, as I didn’t want to spend a fortune, and it was one of the few items that would fit where I wanted a unit to store my dolls so they wouldn’t take up too much space. I had looked at smaller corner curio cabinets but the shelf heights were inadequate. I also saw tall and narrow glass-enclosed shelf units; however, they only had a maximum of four shelves and I needed at least five. I also wanted enough space to store clothing and accessories for my collection. This storage unit has flexibility for varying assembly configurations. I knew it would work perfectly for what I needed. I decided I would be able to find some sort of solution to resolve the door closure issue. Well, much to my surprise finding a solution for the doors wasn’t as easy as I thought! It involved quite a bit of searching the web! Far more than I had anticipated; but definitely well worth it!
I found these devices, and they work great! Such a simple solution! I had not thought to search for child proofing latches! I came upon these totally by accident during my lengthy web search! I’m very pleased with them! They are easy to use and look nice too! Perfect fit! Perfect solution!
I also added adhesive doorknobs to make it easy to open the doors AND they cover up the holes, which enhances privacy for my collection! No sneak peeks allowed! LOL!😉
Puck lights were added to each shelf space for good lighting! They’re really nice! I love them! And they seem to be quite durable too!
I also looked for options to mount the COAs (certificates of authenticity) for each doll on each shelf. I didn’t want to risk losing or damaging them. If I ever decide to sell any dolls in my collection, I must have the COAs and they must remain in perfect shape, too! The dolls are not worth much without these! I wanted something that looked nicer than the binder clips I was temporarily using! Clips wide enough to hold the COAs straight were needed in order to prevent warping.
Yopay 8 Pack Chip Bag Clips, 5.3 Inch Heavy Duty Food Bag Clips, Food Bag Clamp with Air Tight Seal Grip for Bread Bags, Snack Bags, Coffee Bags and Paper Sheets, 2 Colors
The two boys have red and the three girls have aqua clips! I was not able to locate pink and blue clips in the size and style needed.
The storage unit came with two metal hanging rods that I decided to utilize for storage of all of my magnetic pacifiers. The four Reborn dolls have magnets inside their mouths to hold magnetic pacifiers or magnetic bottles in place.
Anyway, I ordered two more metal hanging rods so I would have one for each doll on each shelf. I didn’t need one for my full body silicone gal as she takes real baby pacifiers and bottles in her mouth, and magnetic pacifiers are not needed for her.
I had previously ordered these baby powder scented air fresheners that are intended for placing inside the doll’s diaper to give it that nice, sweet baby scent. I opened just a couple of them for now and placed them inside the storage unit, hidden inside a couple of the blankets in there. It smells so nice!
Final storage renovations complete!👏👏👏👍👍👍

When the puck lights are all turned on, they create a pretty, glowing storage unit at night! There are a total of ten puck lights; two per shelf except the bottom shelf that holds the clothes and accessories. I still might decide to purchase two more to add there so the entire storage unit lights up!

Storage for outfits and other accessories on the bottom shelf
I had extra supplies left over (panels, doors, connectors, door knobs) and decided to use them to build another unit by my desk on the veranda. I had all kinds of crap piled up in the corner. I went through it all, discarded some and put the rest inside my new storage solution there, too! So much neater-looking and so much easier to access everything too! I don’t have to dig through a pile to gain access to what I need! Those days are done! 👍
AND I have my entire curio back! I was able to redistribute all of my stuff PLUS I was able to move the items back in that I had moved into my hutch! So my curio AND hutch underwent a reorg! I also used to store the clothes and accessories in the bottom drawer of the hutch. I was able to move these to my new storage unit, which freed up half of the drawer! YAY! So MUCH better and nicer!

Everything looks so nice and neat. You got really creative and it turned out amazing. You're at a good number of reborns, but it's especially nice that you have the extra parts to spare to add another cube or two if you ever were to consider getting anymore down the line too. : )
ReplyDeleteI finally fixed my Blog titles in the description. I forgot to change it when I switched hobbies. ; )
