New Idea for My Tiny Nursery!

I was thinking of doing all of the below, but decided against it! I got carried away with ideas as usual! It will take far too much time and money for this project. If I had the time and money for all of what is described in my blog, below, I might have considered following through on this project! But I am placing it on the back burner for now. I still plan to add a few shelves to this area and will decorate it with some 1/12 sized baby furniture like a bassinet, crib, cradle, high chair, baby carriage and some other cute pieces of furniture that my tiny nursery is unable to accommodate. But I won’t be getting into windows, doors, wallpaper, carpet or flooring, etc. I will also start a small collection of 1/12 size babies to go with it. It will all just be a cute display area for tiny collectibles. You can still see my blog, below, for some of many available options for 1/12 sized babies and baby furniture!

My previous blog!

I have a section of wall that I had planned to add shelves to display mini doll house -sized baby dolls and baby furniture, such as miniature cribs, bassinets, cradles, etc.! Since my tiny nursery is too tiny to accommodate life-sized baby furniture such as these items, why not enjoy them in a miniature-sized collection?

As I explored all of the available miniature baby furniture, I discovered so other miniature items and accessories! The options appear to be endless!

Then the idea to convert this space into a small doll house, with narrow shelves that would represent the different floors of a doll house, with a pitched roof toward the top:

But after seeing so many options for doll houses, I’m thinking it might be better to just build a separate doll house that fits precisely in this area that can be moved if needed! I have always wanted to build a doll house but never had a place to keep one! Now I have the perfect place for one! While it will be narrow and tall to accommodate this space, I think I can make it work and make one that is still quite nice!

I was going to make each floor a nursery with different styles for each nursery. For example, maybe one nursery will have all white furniture and another will have brown furniture, and another might have light brown furniture, etc. But I am sort of toying around with having it include a living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and nursery! I doubt that I’ll do this as I’m leaning more towards displaying different styles of nurseries on each floor. At this point, this is my preference. It’ll fit in better this way with my tiny nursery.

Anyway, I can add 1/12 scale babies! So many available from plastic to polymer clay to silicone babies! Here are some screen shots of some examples of so many options!

At some point I’ll go to Lowe’s or Home Depot to pick up the supplies to build the doll house that will be made to fit into this wall space! I will likely make it so it protrudes beyond the wall studs and would add a 2” x 4” stud in front of the bottom stud to support the doll house so it’s stable there.

Here are some examples of what can be incorporated into the doll house! So many options!

There are various patterns of doll house adhesive wallpaper to add to each level. Above the pitched roof areas I can add some kind of paper that looks like a sky, possibly with birds flying or whatever!

And some examples of flooring!

I can add windows like these and add little curtains to them! Just some screen shots of what I saved to my favorites!

I could also add some doors!

I can add wall photos and mirrors, as well as wall shelves!

And there are so many cool doll house accessories available! Just some of the numerous items!

This was where my idea started! Initially I was only thinking of adding shelves to display some of the doll house baby furniture and accessories! But the more I looked, so many options cane up! The ideas keep flowing!

  1. Whoa! That was the longest blog post yet! That took a minute! ~LOL! I can see that this will be a lot of fun for you! And I can see why you are so intrigued by all of the tiny furniture, wallpaper, etc. I once purchased an entire dollhouse for Savannah and took it over after she didn't seem to appreciate it as much as I did. I did all of the wallpaper, curtains, etc. too. That was from a line known as Calico Critter's. I didn't stick with it for very long though. That was the very start of my journey when it came to toy collecting in general and that eventually evolved. All of the boredom associated with the pandemic resulted in a ton of exploration and I very quickly discovered that the kid in me still exists. To me, it's like reclaiming my childhood. I used to be routinely blackmailed whenever I wanted something so very badly. But this time around, everything is on my own terms. There are no strings attached. No requirements or restrictions. It's all so obtainable when you are an adult. : ) Have fun with it!
