New Storage Solution!

Ok, Hubby and I have lived in this house for 8 years now. It’s a post and beam home. I had always wondered what was between the half wall of our master bedroom upstairs and the lower roof edge. Hubby insisted there was no space there but I always knew there had to be. Tonight, I decided to explore that space! I started taking down the top couple of layers of tongue and groove woodwork and couldn’t believe what I found! There is not only a space there but it’s actually far better than I had ever imagined! First, I saw that there is a ceiling light there! I was thrilled about that! And second, the floor is a wooden floor! Nothing fancy but the rafters are covered quite well! And not as filthy as I had thought it would be after not being accessed for at least 8 years! Someone had to have had access to it at one point since the light is present. I’m not sure where the access door for it might have been previously. And I have no idea why someone would have closed it up like this! Aside from a few cobwebs and dust, it wasn’t a bad clean up!! It is a tiny area but it’s large enough for what I need it for: Storage for my collection!

Here it is!

I trimmed the full lengths of each piece of wood with my Ryobi skill saw and started rebuilding the wall beside the new entry point using the tongue and groove wood.

Wall finished around the entry area!

Cleaning time after installing the door! The door is nothing fancy since I couldn’t find enough wood for this project and had to improvise, but it works great and blends in ok with the rest of the wall! I can redo it after I buy some better framing wood for it. I decided to clean after i was done using my skill saw in there! And it didn’t take long with my awesome commercial Sebo vacuum cleaner!

I got my collection moved in! It was initially a mess when I was done moving everything in, not long before this! I could barely move around! LOL! Further reorganization is still needed but I was tired and needed to get to bed! But I plan to get a rug and add other things to enhance it! My sister sent me a bunch of ideas too! So I’ll reorganize as I add new features. Love my new “she” area! All mine!! 👍
