Ok, Hubby and I have lived in this house for 8 years now. It’s a post and beam home. I had always wondered what was between the half wall of our master bedroom upstairs and the lower roof edge. Hubby insisted there was no space there but I always knew there had to be. Tonight, I decided to explore that space! I started taking down the top couple of layers of tongue and groove woodwork and couldn’t believe what I found! There is not only a space there but it’s actually far better than I had ever imagined! First, I saw that there is a ceiling light there! I was thrilled about that! And second, the floor is a wooden floor! Nothing fancy but the rafters are covered quite well! And not as filthy as I had thought it would be after not being accessed for at least 8 years! Someone had to have had access to it at one point since the light is present. I’m not sure where the access door for it might have been previously. And I have no idea why someone would have closed it up like this! Aside from a few cobwebs and dust, it wasn’t a bad clean up!! It is a tiny area but it’s large enough for what I need it for: Storage for my collection!
Here it is!
Wall finished around the entry area!
I got my collection moved in! It was initially a mess when I was done moving everything in, not long before this! I could barely move around! LOL! Further reorganization is still needed but I was tired and needed to get to bed! But I plan to get a rug and add other things to enhance it! My sister sent me a bunch of ideas too! So I’ll reorganize as I add new features. Love my new “she” area! All mine!! 👍
Very fun find! I can think of no better place to store your hobby while keeping it entirely protected! Have fun with this project!!!
