Vintage Collection Updates!
Added some more items this week! One item has arrived today and the rest are on the way!
Here is my second most prized addition in my vintage collection! Like my most prized item, it is extremely rare and I was extremely fortunate to attain! This item arrived today! I am so excited to own this book! This was definitely my favorite children’s book as a child!
I had forgotten all about it until I came across it on Pinterest. As soon as I saw it I was overcome with emotion for some reason! It was a thrill to see something that had been long forgotten but to suddenly remember as if it were yesterday! I cannot truly describe the feeling of joy and excitement as I reviewed various photos of all of the pages in the book! The more I looked at it, the more I wanted it!
So I started a shopping search only to find that it was extremely difficult to find! I saw it listed in one place for $99 plus shipping! I kept searching, hoping to find it for way less. After a couple of weeks, I found that the book was being sold at auction on eBay with no bidders or watchers; but the starting bid was $75, which was still far more than I wanted to pay. I decided to watch the auction but continued my search. There were no others out there! Towards the end of the auction, I made the decision that I would wait until close to the end of the auction to bid on it and hopefully get it for $75, plus shipping. But then I got busy at work and missed it before it ended. But, nobody else bid on it and the book was re-listed for another seven days!
So, I continued to watch it but set a reminder in my calendar on my phone for an hour or so before the auction ended! LOL! I lucked out! This extension gave me more time to search for a lower price! But I was still not able to find the book for sale anywhere! After numerous and extensive web searching, and about two hours left to go with the auction, I decided to enter a maximum bid of $80. There were still no watchers or bids aside from mine. I am not sure why. Maybe many gave up on their search for the book, or maybe nobody else was willing to pay $75 or more for this book. I was surprised there was a lack of a bidding war for this item!
There is slight damage to the lower part of the binding but the rest of the book is impeccable with no writing or highlighting at all! So many vintage children’s books in general have writing, coloring with crayons and/or highlighting; as well as torn pages and/or even missing pages! This book is in great condition for a vintage children’s book! And it ought to be for the price paid too! The book I saw for $99 was in perfect condition. But I was not willing to pay just under $100 for this book regardless! I know I did not overpay for this book at $75 plus shipping. If anything, since it’s so rare, I truly think I could get back more than I paid for this book! It would just need to be advertised well and likely needs to be placed at auction for longer than just seven days; likely a 30-day auction. But I have no plans to sell this anyway! And if I had the original book from when I was a child, it likely would have been in the same, or worse condition! Having a perfect book would be nice; however, it just would not “feel” like it could be the same book I had as a child!
I took photos of my book this evening and created a slide show! Enjoy!
A Rocket To The Moon Golden Puppet Book, published 1970 by Western Publishing, by Geraldine Russell.
This next item is my most prized vintage item! I have had it for a couple of months now. It is also extremely rare and I was extremely fortunate to attain it! With seconds left to go in the auction on EBay, I suddenly was outbid! I had to enter a new maximum bid as quick as possible! I didn’t think I would make it in time! I hit the submit button for my new maximum bid and a second or two later, it showed that the auction ended. At first, I thought I lost the auction. That either I was too late submitting my new maximum bid or that maybe someone else had a higher maximum bid than me at the time the auction ended. When I clicked on the listing a few seconds later, much to my surprise, I found that I was the winner and immediately paid for it in order to secure my win and order processing! It was too good to be true!
Aside from this item being extremely rare, it was in perfect, like new condition! And, better yet, it came with the original box AND the instructions, which were also in good condition! Having the original box for this item is unheard of! Add in the instruction manual, and this makes it all only that much better! I would not be surprised if there were no others in the world that are in perfect condition with no missing parts, with original box AND instructions in good condition! Even the seat cushion is in pristine condition! I don’t think this infant seat was ever used! It is like going back in time to a store in 1963 to buy it and bring it back to 2023! This is why this item, the InfantSeat Baby Carrier Baby Sitter Model 50 with original box AND instructions, is my most prized item in my vintage collection!
I won this on 8/23/23 and it arrived on 8/26/23! Here it is, put into a slideshow for viewing! Enjoy!
This next vintage set was also something I had forgotten about until I saw it on Pinterest! It was a bit difficult to find and found only on eBay. I put in an offer and the seller accepted it. This was $14 plus shipping. Yes, overpriced for a bunch of erasers, LOL! But well worth it to me and due to arrive tomorrow!
This puzzle was another item that I had completely forgotten about until last night when I saw it on Pinterest! It brought me right back to being a little girl of about four years old putting this puzzle together, and playing with the magnetic pieces too! I could feel the puzzle and puzzle pieces in my little four-year-old hands!
I cannot recall the last time seeing this puzzle! I don’t have any memories of it beyond playing with it as a very young child. Usually toys got passed down to my younger sisters; however, I don’t recall this happening with this puzzle. Maybe it got left behind when we moved out of the house we lived in until I was about six or seven years old? Maybe it broke during the move and had to be thrown away? I have no idea what became of it.
I submitted an offer of $8.50 (plus shipping) last night and the seller accepted the offer this afternoon. Hopefully it will ship soon!
1962 Child Guidance Toy 16 Pieces No. 908 Clown Magnetic Kid Puzzle. This is not a rare puzzle but it’s not a common item either.
When I saw this clown puzzle on Pinterest, I performed an image search and came across another puzzle I enjoyed as a child! I shopped for this puzzle too and found that it was not rare but also not common.
Initially I found this version of the puzzle and purchased it, thinking this was the one I had as a young child. It was cheap; I put in an offer of $5 (plus shipping) and the seller accepted the offer last night. It has not shipped yet.
Puzzle Farm Animals Farmer Theme Toddler:
But then I came across another version of the puzzle and remembered more details and, could also imagine the feel of these puzzle pieces in my hands as if I was a young child again! This was actually the exact same version I had as a child; slightly more rare than the other one that I had purchased.
This version also comes in the box and is unopened. As a result, this puzzle was more costly. But I just had to have it! It only had the “Buy it now” option on eBay so I paid $30 for it, but it had free shipping! It will make a nice addition to my vintage collection, especially being in the original, unopened box! This item has not shipped yet either since I just purchased it last night!
Kohner Primary Tryboard at the Zoo Series 1968 MIB MOC No. 138C:
Well, these are the latest updates for my vintage collection! I just love my collection! Aside from my vintage collection, I also have my miniature dollhouse collection! But my Reborn doll collection, plus my one full body silicone doll, is what sparked the vintage and miniature dollhouse collections! And, actually, it wasn’t until I discovered a hidden space in my house that I would have even considered collections aside from my Reborn and silicone doll collection! See my previous blogs for full details!
